The management and employees of Firestone Liberia signed a new three-year collective bargaining agreement aimed at "increasing productivity and promoting working relationship between the management and employees of the company," reported allafrica.com.

While specifics of the agreement were not released, Emundo Garcia, president and general manager of Firestone Liberia, said the contract provides stability of the company’s operations in the country, as well as promotes the employees’ welfare as it relates to their own economic improvement.

"We have gone through challenges, and we still have a lot of challenges ahead of us as we strive to increase our farm productivity, and make the lives of our workers better. But as we continue to work together, we can overcome those challenges," he said.

"The collective bargaining agreement is not only about salary increment, but also other things that are of benefit to both management and employees,” said Winleta Henries Reeves, employee relations manager of Firestone.
