Yokohama Tire Corp. will unveil its new 709ZL drive tire this week at the Mid-America Trucking Show (MATS) in Louisville, Ky.
Available in sizes 295/75R22.5 and 11R22.5, the 709ZL employs Yokohama’s Zenvironment technology, which combines the latest breakthroughs in casing design, rubber compounding and tread design, the tiremaker said.
“By pairing our advanced compound with a tread design that’s different from any other tire, our engineers have successfully created a drive tire that is remarkably fuel efficient,” said Rick Phillips, Yokohama’s director of commercial sales.
The company said highlights of the 709ZL include: low rolling resistance and superior fuel economy, a result of the new compound; a unique drive tire tread design; solid shoulder rib and serpentine grooves for extra rigidity and stability; and a “Z Block” design to improve wet traction and lower rolling resistance.
The 709ZL will be available in the latter part of 2012.
Also at its MATS booth (#14124), Yokohama is displaying its recently launched online Inflation Pressure Calculator, an interactive tool that provides effective tire management for fleet owners; several of its SmartWay-verified tires and other commercial tires; and updates on its SmartSolution program for dealers.
The tiremaker also is holding daily contests with tires and iPad 2s as prizes.
