American Honda Motor Co., Inc. is reaching out to independent repair and collision repair shops in an effort to reach all Honda and Acura owners affected by a recent airbag recall.
The company will send an email message asking shop owners and managers to check each Honda or Acura vehicle that comes to its facility.
The messages include a video message from Bruce Smith, American Honda senior vice president (video can be viewed here), as well as downloadable English and Spanish posters.
“Consumer safety is everyone’s responsibility,” said Smith. “The purpose of this initiative is to help create awareness for your customers and make it easy for your service writers and estimators to check each customer’s car to see if it has an open recall. With your help, we can ensure our customers, friends, and loved ones are driving a safe vehicle.”
Honda’s email messaging will be followed up with a direct-mail initiative, the company said.
