Continental Opens New Canadian Distribution Center

(Akron/Tire Review) Continental Tire North America’s Canadian operation opened a new, 100,000-square foot distribution center in Mississauga, Ontario, just outside of Toronto.

Continental Tire Canada’s new DC will service customers across Canada, the company said.

“This center is the result of our continued growth in the Canadian marketplace,” said Guy Hardiman, CTCI’s national manager of consumer tire sales and marketing. “It represents the importance of our marketshare within the original equipment segment. This venture is especially important to ensure product is readily available for the Canadian marketplace, particularly for fitments unique to the Canadian market, such as the Smart car.”

Continental said the center “is a major step for CTCI’s warehousing operations, which were previously serviced by offices and warehouse facilities in the U.S.”

“We pulled everything out of the U.S. and brought it to Canada,” Hardiman said. “This better serves the Canadian marketplace time-wise, through decreased time delays. Continental is a global company that is committed to the Canadian market through our expansion and the addition of the warehouse, which is a direct response to the market demand for our product.”
