Dorchester Tire had been working with older hardware and was completely dependent on a back-up tape when its system crashed recently. Concerned about the expense of the resolution, Alan Saks, president of Dorchester Tire, drove to ASA’s headquarters in Nashua, N.H., with a single back-up tape, looking for a solution.
An ASA customer since, Saks was granted a portion of the $1M Bailout Fund to cover some of the costs to get his business back up and running. Dorchester Tire moved its entire system to ASA’s offsite ASP server and was up and running by the next day, according to ASA.
Nationwide, hundreds of independent tire dealerships have submitted grant requests and are currently being considered for funding. Funding is still available, and dealers can apply at www.asatire.com/bailout by filling out a form, or by contacting an ASA representative. (Tire Review/Akron)
