TIA Unveils First Update to Strategic Plan

(Akron/Tire Review) Four years ago, TIA unveiled its first comprehensive strategic plan, a 32-page document that presented the association’s future course, at the SEMA Show.

At this year’s SEMA Show, TIA released its first published update to that plan, an 11-point outline of “goals” covering less than a page and a half.

TIA’s Strategic Plan Committee developed the update, which states 11 goals for the association. Unlike the original Strategic Plan, the update did not include specific objectives to meet the goals; TIA’s Strategic Plan Committee is working to refine those.

1. STRATEGIC PLANNING: To oversee TIA’s direction and its working committees’ efforts to ensure they are in accord with the Strategic Plan and comply with the Association’s Bylaws. To recommend changes to the Strategic Plan and the Bylaws to best serve TIA members within the changing dynamics of the industry.
2. GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS: To effectively represent the interests of the tire industry on current and future government affairs issues, to advance TIA as the voice for the tire industry in government and to increase participation of the tire industry in government affairs efforts.
3. PUBLIC RELATIONS & MARKETING: In a consistent message to the industry, government officials and consumers, strive to enhance the value of the tire industry products and services by communicating their safety, quality and value.
4. MEMBER SERVICES AND BENEFITS: To offer the industry’s most comprehensive resource for profit and management-enhancing services.
5. MEMBER RETENTION & RECRUITMENT: To increase membership and retain current members by increasing member participation in TIA programs and services.
6. TRAINING & EDUCATION: Continue to be the recognized authority for industry training programs.
7. RETREAD: To meet the needs of the tire retread and repair industries, to effectively represent the interests of the tire retreading and repairing industries and support the efforts of TRIB.
8. EVENTS: Provide educational, informative conferences, programs and events for membership.
9. GLOBAL COUNCIL: To create a TIA Global Network to lead and represent the industry and members in the global tire market and to be recognized globally by the industry, policy makers, governments, and the TIA membership as the premier organization in the tire industry.
10. STATE ASSOCIATION EXECUTIVES COUNCIL: To build a strong and lasting relationship with all state and provincial groups.
11. TIRE & RUBBER RECYCLING ADVISORY COUNCIL: To address the unique needs of the rubber recycling segment and ensure that the decision makers, the general public and the media understand the contribution the private sector tire and rubber recycling industry makes to public safety and health.
