CMA to Open First N.A. Warehouse

(Akron/Tire Review) China Manufacturers Alliance has opened its first North American distribution center.

Located in Memphis, Tenn., the 150,000-square-foot facility is set to open later this year.

“Acquiring this new Memphis distribution center was necessary to support Double Coin’s rapid growth in North America, and will help us continue providing industry-leading service to our customers,” said company officials.

The center is located on 10.5 acres near the Memphis International Airport. It will serve as CMA’s primary distribution point for OE and replacement Double Coin brand medium truck and bus radials and radial OTR tires.

CMA also leases warehouse space in Urbana, Ohio, for OE distribution.

The company also said that future distribution centers are being considered.

During the Michelin Sustainability Summit held at the Sonoma Raceway, members of the company's leadership put a spotlight on the strides Michelin is making in sustainable tire manufacturing. A panel representing the crux of Michelin's operations – design, manufacturing, and delivery – was comprised of Nathália Hasselmann, the plant manager of Michelin's passenger car tire facility in Greenville, South Carolina; George Kurian, vice president of supply chain and logistics for Michelin North America; and Cyril Roget, Group Scientific Innovation and Communications Director for Michelin.
