Michelin North America’s Uniroyal brand is expanding its reach with the launch of a low-cost medium truck tire line for the U.S. market.
The same Uniroyal lineup was previously launched in Canada in April 2015, and targets the lower intermediate and budget segment of the marketplace, Michelin said.
“The intermediate budget portions of the market have been growing over the last several years and they continue to do so,” said Donna Murphy, business segment manager for Uniroyal. “The Michelin Groupe has decided that it’s an opportune time to add the Uniroyal brand to our commercial truck tire offering. Providing both our dealers and customers, in other words the end users, multiple offers for their business needs.”
The commercial lineup includes six truck tires for long haul, regional and on/off road applications:
• Uniroyal LS24: SmartWay verified long-haul steer and all-position tire, available in four sizes
• Uniroyal LT40: Long-haul and regional trailer tire, available in four sizes
• Uniroyal RS20: SmartWay verified regional steer and all-position tire, available in seven sizes
• Uniroyal RD30: Regional and long-haul drive tire, available in five sizes
• Uniroyal HS50: Heavy-duty on/off-road steer and all-position tire, available in four sizes
• Uniroyal HD60: Heavy-duty on/off-road drive tire, available in three sizes
All the tires feature DuraShield construction for durability, dependability and retreadability, Michelin said. The DuraShield construction features pyramidal steel belt construction with high content natural rubber coating to reduce stress and promote endurance, insulating belt edge strips to reduce stress on the belt edges, and a heavy gauge inner liner that minimizes oxygen permeation to avoid degradation of the steel belt structure.
Heavy-duty tires, such as the HS50 and HD60, feature an additional steel summit ply for added protection.
The Uniroyal medium truck tire line will be available in 28 sizes, with 26 sizes available now and two additional sizes (255/70R22.5 for the Uniroyal RS20 and 425/65R22.5 for the Uniroyal HS50) available March 1.
