Tyrexpo Asia 2007 ‘Comes of Age’

(Staffordshire, U.K./Tyres & Accessories) Increased visitor numbers representing a wider variety of countries and greater numbers of exhibitors taking extra floor space, were the top-line highlights that contributed to a record-breaking sixth Tyrexpo Asia exhibition at the Singapore Expo Centre recently (11-13 Sept. 11-13).

Figures released by show organiser ECI International confirm that visitor numbers increased by 9% compared to the last event in 2005, with a total of 3,219 people visiting the show from 88 countries.

The growing international importance of the exhibition was emphasised by the fact in 2005 only 73 countries were represented by visitors.

Substantial increases were also recorded in terms of the support and commitment from exhibitors. 125 exhibitor stands were booked at the 2007 event compared with 95 in 2005. Meanwhile, the number of exhibitor passes registered rose by as much as 38%, from 535 to 739, while the total exhibition area booked was up by a quarter at 6,500 sq. m, compared to 5,200 sq.m last time.

Rowena Suthers, sales director for ECI International, commented; “We believe that Tyrexpo Asia really came of age this year. We are delighted with our visitor figures, particularly the trend towards an increasingly international visitor profile, which shows that the exhibition has become the event of choice for tyre industry professionals wishing to do business in Asia”. Company representatives added: “Tyrexpo Asia remains the premier tyre industry exhibition in the region for the tyre professional and delivers quality visitors over the three day event.”
 
Siddharth Agarwal, export manager for first time exhibitor Ceat Ltd. remarked: “Tyrexpo Asia ’07 went very well for Ceat. It was our plan to meet current distributors and form new relationships. Overall, it was a good marketing exercise and an excellent showcase for our brand.”

‘’The 2007 Singapore Expo drew in a remarkably focused visitor group which produced a welcome interest in our product range”, said Toni Elderfield, President of Monarch Vulcanising. “This has already translated into firm orders and many quotations”, she added. “We are more than happy with the outcome and look forward to exhibiting again in 2009’’

Meanwhile, Rajesh Khatri, GM-international sales for another first time participant Agarwal Rubber Limited commented; "The main reason for us to be in this show is that we already export to 32 countries and we are now looking for good distributors in Malaysia and Singapore. The crowd was good for the first day and we were able to meet up with some of our old clients and also successfully attracted some potential enquiries."

Raymond Chan, senior manager, YHI Corp. (Singapore) Pte Ltd said: “YHI is glad to have participated in the 2007 Tyrexpo Asia show. The exhibition gave us further opportunity to introduce our existing and new product lines to the international pool of trade visitors. It was also a time to gather and meet old but good friends to rekindle the business relationship and at the same time, make new friends and contacts throughout the duration of this fruitful event". 
 
The seventh Tyrexpo Asia has already been confirmed for the Singapore Expo Centre from Mar. 24-26, 2009. The show dates have been brought forward by six months to avoid the increasingly congested exhibition calendar in the region during September.

Expanding upon the decision, Rowena Suthers said: "We want to give everyone who supports the show the very best opportunity to maximise their investment. In the past, September has been a good month to stage Tyrexpo Asia but with an increasing number of tyre and automotive exhibitions springing up in the region, we think the time is right to bring the show forward. This will give exhibitors and visitors more time and opportunities to plan their marketing activity over the course of the year.

“This move has been made after careful consideration and with the full backing of many of our most loyal and committed exhibitors, who recognise the value of re-establishing an exclusive slot for the show in the Asian exhibition calendar,” she added.
