The association’s new president for 2007/08 leading industry figure Tim Stott, general manager of Sapphire Energy Recovery Ltd., the Lafarge/Michelin joint venture. Tim replaces Roger Hicks, managing director of Charles Lawrence International Ltd. and the TRA’s first ever president, who also served a two year term.
Commented Tim Stott: “Roger has performed a tremendous job as our first president; the TRA is now well established with an extensive and growing membership (36) of tyre collectors and processors/recyclers dealing with more than 75% of the U.K.’s end of life tyres. The association’s success in managing the tyre industry’s “Responsible Recycler” environmental audit process provides assurances of legal compliance, with added credibility and respect for the industry. The TRA must continue to raise operating standards under the independent auditing process, delivering value for association members and the tyre retail industry.”
The new vice president and treasurer will be Steve Ford, environmental manager of long-established Vellco Tyre Control Ltd., a casing collector that operates right across the United Kingdom. He succeeds Tony Allen, managing director of Environmental Tyre Disposal Ltd. (ETD), who like Roger Hicks, also served two years.
