Pirelli hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for its new Mexican plant – to be built next to its current plant – on June 2.
The $200 million plant in Silao, Mexico, reconfirms the importance of the NAFTA region for Pirelli, the tiremaker said. Additionally, the facility will help Pirelli expand its market share globally by meeting the needs of domestic and export customers, the company shared.
The new facility is scheduled to start production on tires in Q2 of 2017. Once it’s fully operational, the plant will produce 2.5 million tires annually, increasing the overall tire production in Silao to 7.5 million tires, Pirelli said.
