Next Tread is the retread brand of Goodyear Dunlop Tyres, and the tyre giant claims that kerbing damage is a major reason for premature tyre wear and unscheduled replacement for municipal vehicle operators.
The latest ‘utility’ features an integral kerbing protection band to offer an operator increased tyre life and was developed specifically for the waste collection and disposal industry, the company said.
Travis Brown, marketing manager for truck tyres, explains the benefit: “Its innovative asymmetrical tread pattern, damage resistant shoulder design and wider, tougher kerbing band provides much greater impact and damage resistance, compared to a conventional tyre. The Next Tread Utility also has a robust outer shoulder design to increase the stability of high-sided vehicles when cornering. The tread pattern is also designed to reduce soil deposits on the road.”
