New Winter Driving Techniques DVD Released

The Center for Driving Sciences has released Modern Winter Driving Techniques, a 24-minute instructional DVD teaching the skills and techniques necessary to become a better winter driver.

Developed in cooperation with the Bridgestone Winter Driving School in Streamboat Springs, Colo., the DVD discusses vehicle preparation, steering techniques, normal and emergency braking situations, skid control (oversteer and understeer), cornering control, acceleration, weight transfer, accident avoidance and more.

The DVD offers aerial footage, computer-generated illustrations and winter rally racing clips to demonstrate and reinforce driving principles.

“Winter driving is like any sport, it requires training, practice and suitable equipment. I consider Modern Winter Driving Techniques part of the necessary equipment,” said executive producer Mark Cox. “The new DVD, shot entirely in high-definition format, allows us to reach out to drivers everywhere and emphasize the importance of proper winter driving techniques. It’s perfect for anyone looking to learn the methods required for safe travel on snow, ice or any low traction situation.”

Modern Winter Driving Techniques is available for $34.95 (tax, shipping and handling fees additional) at www.winterdrive.com and www.amazon.com. Phone orders are welcomed at 1.800.WHY.SKID. (Tire Review/Akron)
