The $40 million plant is located adjacent to MNA’s headquarters and passenger tire plant in QuerÉtaro. It will help meet the growing demand for treads generated by the 16 MRT retreading plants in Mexico. “The new plant will also provide supplemental support for other MRT plants in the U.S. and Canada,” according to MNA.
Jim Micali, chairman and president of MNA; Francisco Garrido PatrÓn, governor of the state of QuerÉtaro; and Manuel GonzÁlez Valle, mayor of the city of QuerÉtaro, among other dignitaries, attended the opening ceremony.
“The retread market in Mexico is currently the seventh largest in the world with a growing demand for Michelin products,” said Micali. “The opening of this new plant in QuerÉtaro will allow us to fulfill the growing needs of our local customers as well as support our business throughout North America. Michelin has certainly found Mexico to be a great place to do business, and we appreciate the strong support for our operations here in QuerÉtaro."
