Pirelli’s new Scorpion Verde All Season was premiered yesterday at the SEMA Show before a packed press conference at its booth.
The tiremaker said the new “green” tire offers drivers increased performance in wet braking, dry handling, wet handling and snow traction, while reducing aquaplaning. In addition, through decreased rolling resistance and an 8% reduction in weight, the Scorpion Verde All Season lowers CO2 emissions, Pirelli claims.
The new tire features a new high milege, high traction tread compound, an optimized void ratio for wet- and winter-weather performance, and an optimized contact patch for stability and control.
Pirelli said the new tire has 20% lower rolling resistance and weighs 8% less than its previous SUV/CUV lines, resulting in a 4% savings in fuel over the life of the tire.
The 600 AA UTQG tire will be available in 19 sizes covering 16- to 20-inch diameters, and H, T and V speed ratings. XL sizes are also available, and run-flat sizes will be added.
As part of the launch, Pirleli also unveiled for “ecoimpact icons” that will be displayed on the sidewall of its green tire, starting with the Scorpion Verde All Season.
The pictograms depict low rolling resistance, reduced aromatic oil use, low noise and high mileage.
