Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.’s San Angelo, Texas, proving grounds is celebrating its 70th anniversary.
The facility’s employees, family and retirees will celebrate its history on Oct. 11 and 12 with a series of product demonstrations and interactive activities, Goodyear said.
“Goodyear’s legacy of innovation is directly supported by the San Angelo Proving Ground, and its associates,” said Jon Bellissimo, general director of Goodyear’s Innovation Center in Akron, Ohio. “Cutting edge innovations such as the fuel-saving FuelMax technology with applications in both consumer and commercial tires have been tested and successfully validated at San Angelo.”
Established in 1944, the San Angelo Proving Grounds facility plays a key role in Goodyear’s product and technology development process with on- and off-road testing, the tiremaker noted. The tests at the facility provide Goodyear’s technical community with objective and subjective measures that help predict product success in real world conditions, according to the company.
