Michelin North America will take the wraps off its first plant dedicated to the production of its airless Tweel products.
The new plant in Piedmont, S.C., is MNA’s 10th in that state. Gov. Nikki Haley will not be able to participate in the grand opening, but will be sending her best wishes. A number of Greenville County, S.C., officials will be on hand for the ceremony on Nov. 20, as will MNA chairman and president Pete Selleck and Ralph Dimenna, vice president of MNA’s Tweel unit.
The tiremaker has been buoyed of late with a key OE fitment for the Tweel. In October it was announced that the airless X Tweel Turf was chosen for fitment on John Deere ZTrak 900 Series zero-turn commercial mowers.
The Tweel was introduced about a decade ago as a concept product for passenger cars. Over time the product evolved into small-size commercial applications, such as skid-steer loaders and commercial landscape equipment.
