China Knocking on the Door at 2010 Brityrex

The introduction of tariffs and other protective measures in the U.S. has to an extent closed the door to affordable Chinese tires there, and this is good news to European consumers with an interest in value for money.

Many Chinese companies have identified this opportunity to further develop their businesses in the U.K., and a number of them have turned to Brityrex 2010 as a platform from which they can effectively do so. Exhibition organiser ECI International reports, as of mid-November, having taken no less than 25 stand bookings from Chinese suppliers, with the prospect of more to follow.

“There’s no doubt that events in America and elsewhere have had a knock-on affect in terms of Chinese distributors looking at the U.K. and European market,” explained ECI managing director Paul Farrant. “We already have a very strong group of exhibitors from China, but I think there will be more to come over the next few months, which will offer a huge choice for tyre buyers at the show.”

Among those confirmed for Brityrex 2010 are: Wanda Boto (OTR), Long March (truck and OTR), Sonny Tyre, Zhaoqing Junhong, Ningbo Junda (valves), Zhejiang Dawning (wheels), Koryo Tyres (OTR and agricultural), Star Tyre (representing 23 individual brands) and Techking Tires (OTR).

In other show news, the National Tyre Distributors Association (NTDA) has confirmed its annual dinner will sit alongside Brityrex next October. “We had a tremendous response from members and the trade in general to this year’s dinner at the Hilton in Manchester, and that was without the added attraction of Brityrex,” commented NTDA director Richard Edy. “We have, therefore, confirmed that the 2010 dinner will return to the Hilton and sit alongside Brityrex, which I’m sure will guarantee a bumper attendance and superb evening’s entertainment.”

The annual dinner and TAFF Awards presentation will take place on Oct. 6, 2010, at the Hilton Hotel, Deansgate, Manchester. Brityrex 2010 itself will commence on Oct. 5 and run for three days at Manchester Central, the exhibition venue formerly known as G-Mex. (Tyres & Accessories)
