The Hi-Q checks, which included both company cars and those run by employees as private motorists, came up with some interesting results. A total of 730 vehicles and 2,920 tyres were checked by the technicians. The checks revealed that 26% of vehicles had at least one tyre with a tread depth of 2mm or less a total of 321 tyres on 191 vehicles.
Thirty vehicles were also identified with other potentially dangerous tyre problems including worn edges, cracking, sidewall damage and screws in the tread. Hi-Q arranged the tyre tread checks in association with Goodyear Dunlop.
As part of its tyre tread check, Hi-Q offered private motorists a series of discounts at the local Hi-Q, including 15% off the purchase of Goodyear and Dunlop tyres and 10% off all other purchases.
