A Little of This and That - Tire Review Magazine

A Little of This and That

I have read and reread and reread Titan’s news release with CEO Morry Taylor’s outlook for next year. Took less than two minutes.

I miss the good old days when Morry’s prognostication was two pages of interesting. This year’s was three whole paragraphs. Three boring paragraphs at that!

Great article last week in the New York Times about TPMS technology developments, particularly on what Continental AG is working on. Too bad they missed talking to Pirelli about its CyberTire system.

Even as TPMS sensor-makers are slowly reaching consensus on design and function – something NHTSA didn’t bother with – it’s nice to know that tiremakers are working on new solutions, as well.

If you haven’t been following the Florida lawsuits against Cooper stemming from that under-aged, unlicensed driver who flipped his girlfriend’s Explorer, killing four friends, in June 2009, I strongly suggest you do so.

A grave injustice is set to occur down in Florida.

In November, a juvenile court judge found Brandon Hodges, who was 15 at the time of the accident, not guilty on eight felony counts of driving without a license causing death or serious injury, and instead found him guilty only of a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

“There’s no question that it supports the case,” Hodges’ attorney and shameless self-promoter Eric Block said after the verdict, seeing a giant rainbow for his client. “The bottom line is whoever was driving that day would have had the tire tread separate. It could have been Dale Earnhardt Jr.”

Circuit Judge Jeff Morrow came up with that verdict, in case you want to write a letter.

You can read more about this case on some of my past blog posts and in our news section online, including an updated item yesterday.
