Rumors of a move were confirmed when Hankook Tire America Corp. announced on April 13, that they’re relocating their North American headquarters from Wayne, N.J., to Nashville, Tenn.

Hankook officials made the announcement together with Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam.

“I am delighted to announce that Hankook Tire will move our American headquarters to Nashville later this year,” said Seung Hwa Suh, Hankook Tire vice chairman. “We believe by relocating our headquarters to Nashville, Hankook Tire can benefit from the people, resources and infrastructures of Tennessee, and we hope it will provide job opportunities and contribute to the Tennessee economy.”

The tiremaker is expected to invest approximately $5 million and create up to 200 jobs in downtown Nashville.

The industry has been waiting for Hankook to relocate its North American headquarters since the tiremaker announced its first U.S. plant in Clarksville, Tenn.  The plant is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
