George Pugh, founder of Pugh’s Tire Service in Greenville, N.C., passed away July 5. He was 89.
Pugh, who was a recent North Carolina Tire Industry Hall of Fame inductee, started the business in 1945 and grew it to five retail locations, one auto parts store and a central warehouse. According to a company statement, Pugh will be succeeded in business by several family members that currently are involved in day-to-day operations, including his son Sammy, several grandchildren and a dedicated staff of Pugh Employees.
