Daily Reflector (Greenville, N.C.) – Pugh’s Tire and Service Centers steps into a new era in its 64-year history today with the opening of a new location at 1205 Dickinson Ave. at the corner of 14th Street and Dickinson Avenue.

Pugh’s moved its 729 Dickinson Ave. store to the new location, which was formerly Sutton Tire Co.

Pugh’s also operates three other locations in Greenville – at 726 S.E. Greenville Blvd. in front of at the Greenville Mall, at 3303 S. Memorial Drive, and at 408 S. Greene St.

The new location will include Pugh’s Auto Parts and all tire warehouse operations for the four stores and their wholesale division.

Pugh’s is also now associated with Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co.

Pugh’s was founded in 1945 by George Pugh and his wife, Margie, and they worked side by side daily, except for the time she stayed at home to raise their four children.

Margie passed away in December 2002.

Four generations of the family are now a part of Pugh’s Tire Service. Sammy Pugh, the son of George and Margie, joined the business in 1962 and continues to operate the Greene Street location. Four grandsons – Stacey Pugh, Frankie Pugh, Stephen Pugh and Chris Stokes – joined the business during the 1980s and 1990s. The fourth generation, great-grandson Colby Pugh, joined the business this past summer.
