A man was arrested in connection to the theft of $18,000 worth of tires, according to reports.
A Natchez, Miss., business reported roughly $8,000 of unauthorized tire orders in June and July. An investigation by the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff Office’s Criminal Investigations High Tech Crime Unit found the amount to be much higher.
Detectives discovered that there were 22 unauthorized purchases made directly with a distributor and charged to the Natchez business. A total of 172 passenger and truck tires were purchased through Aug. 20, according to police.
Police said the man would drive to Shreveport, La., after each order to pick up tires. The suspect was eventually apprehended and charged with 22 counts of felony theft and 22 counts of identity theft.
No tires have been recovered. An investigation is continuing and police ask anyone who might have purchased the tires call (318) 357-7830.
