The world’s biggest one-day sporting event is still two months away, but reports say that venerable British band The Who well, the two surviving members at least will provide the halftime entertainment for Super Bowl XLIV.
Bridgestone Americas are the exclusive sponsor of the Super Bowl halftime.
The selection of The Who continues the post-Janet Jackson “wardrobe malfunction” tradition of picking safe acts to provide mid-game entertainment. In recent years, the Super Bowl halftime was lit up by Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, Prince and U2.
And there apparently won’t be a shortage of Super Bowl ads. CBS said it has nearly sold out all of the 30-second spots for the Super Bowl, with ad prices ranging between $2.5 million to $3 million.
The NFL championship game will air live from Tampa, Fla., on Feb. 7, 2010.
