American Tire Distributors and Upton Tire Pros celebrated the grand opening of a new Tread Town playground, this one in Pearl, Miss.
A charitable initiative of ATD and its Tire Pros program, Tread Town playgrounds are specifically designed and constructed to allow children with disabilities to play with and have fun with other children.
The $125,000 Pearl playground was made possible because of a grant from ATD and $50,000 raised by Upton Tire Pros, which has four location in the metro Jackson, Miss., area.
The new Tread Town is the ATD’s second from working with Boundless Playgrounds, which specializes in building safe areas where all children can play.
According to Boundless Playground CEO Fred Leone, more than 400 scrap tires were recycled to create a special ground cover for the play area, and other tires were used for swings and other play areas.
