Robbie Cowgill of the Washington State University Cougars was presented this prestigious award during halftime by Julie Sediq, director of marketing communications for Toyo Tire U.S.A. Corp.
Cowgill, a resident of Austin, Texas, is a senior pursuing a degree in management operations through WSU’s School of Business. In addition, he is an Honors College enrollee with a 3.36 GPA.
In order to be nominated for the award, a student-athlete must be a senior (in athletics eligibility) on track to receive a degree and carry a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
The Pac-10 Scholar-Athletes of the Year is a commemorative award presented throughout the entire academic season to recognize outstanding scholar-athletes in each of the division’s 22 sports. Toyo will donate $1,000 to the scholarship funds of the institution’s athletic department of each winner in recognition of their accomplishments.
“We congratulate Robbie Cowgill and all of the outstanding recipients of this prestigious award,” said Steve Hutchinson, senior director of marketing for Toyo. “Toyo is proud to recognize the accomplishments of these dedicated student-athletes who excel in both academics as well as their sport.” (Tire Review/Akron)
