The Tire Industry Association is giving Global Tire Expo/SEMA Show attendees a preview of its newly revised Certified Automotive Tire Service (ATS) Program. TIA’s booth (# 40059) includes a video trailer that features some of the new content that will be included in the update to the certification material. Following the Expo, the trailer will be available to view or download at no charge on TIA’s website, www.tireindustry.org.
The Certified ATS Program is divided into 15 different training modules, ranging from torque and clamping force to TPMS relearn and diagnostic procedures. It also includes various resources from the Rubber Manufacturers Association, the Automotive Lift Institute, and the Tire and Rim Association, as well as a copy of the 2010 edition of the TIA TPMS Relearn Chart in an 8.5 x 11-inch format.
“Since 2003, more than 5,000 people have achieved Certified ATS Instructor or Technician status, so we are confident that number will continue to grow when the newly revised ATS Program is released early next year,” said Kevin Rohlwing, TIA senior vice president of training. “In order to remain the industry leader in technician training, we need a passenger and light truck tire program that can measure up to the successful earthmover and commercial programs which were released in the past two years.
