TBC Wholesale Makes Appointments

(Akron/Tire Review) More than a year after it acquired TBC Corp., Sumitomo Corporation of America (SCOA) has sorted out its private brands operations.

This past October, Sumitomo combined TBC Private Brands, Carroll Tire and Treadways Corp. into TBC Wholesale.

Lyle Symonds, previously senior vice president of Treadways’ Eldorado division, was named president of the Treadways unit. Symonds will remain based in East Norriton, Pa.

Gary Paulson, most recently senior vice president of TBC’s Private Brands Division, was named president of the division. He will be based in Memphis.

Erik Olsen was named executive vice president of TBC. He will also continue as TBC’s chief marketing officer and as president of TBC’s Carroll Tire wholesale unit.

TBC also promoted Joe Franklin to vice president of distribution for its TBC Wholesale Division. He will be responsible for the Memphis distribution operations of TBC Private Brands, Tire Kingdom, and Treadways Corp.

Sumitomo acquired TBC Corp. in October 2005 in a $1.1 billion cash deal.
