Just a day after police arrested a group of workers at Goodyear’s tire plant in Fayetteville, N.C., a separate action yielded five drug arrests at Goodyear’s Danville, Va., truck tire plant.
The Mar. 31 drug bust netted five employees on marijuana charges, according to local reports, and was a follow-up to a February 2009 drug sweep at the plant.
As with the Fayetteville raid, Goodyear officials in Akron sought help from local and state police in investigating possible drug activity at the plant.
The five were charged with felony possession with intent to distribute, and could earn jail terms of up to 10 years.
The Mar. 30 raid at the Fayetteville plant brought nine arrests; arrest warrants were issued for five others, but the disposition of those warrants is unknown. The raid culminated a seven-month undercover investigation, and turned up illegal drugs in the employees’ vehicles and in the plant, police said, including marijuana, cocaine, prescription drugs and Ecstacy.
