Harvey Brodsky, ousted two months ago as head of the Tire Retread & Repair Information Bureau, has formally launched a competing organization the Retread Tire Association (RTA).
The RTA, said Brodsky, has been established as a non-profit; he will serve as managing director. Also, the RTA announced the names of its first 36 members.
“We are very pleased and gratified at the amount of support our exciting new association is receiving from retreaders and others in the retread and tire industries, with new members joining every day,” said Brodsky. “We are off to a running start with an overwhelming amount of support from friends and associates from all over the world. We know that their support will be more than justified as we unveil more exciting new programs for the betterment of retreaders, tire repair companies, new tire manufacturers, suppliers and others interested in the well being and betterment of the retread industry worldwide.”
Charter members of the RTA include 31 Inc., Akron Rubber Development Laboratory, Ardmore Tire, Bandenmarket (The Netherlands), Bob’s Tire, Brannon Tire, Colony Tire, Counteract Balancing Beads (Canada), Daetweiler Tire Co., Dave Aldrich, Desser Tire, Dorsey Tire, Eastern Iowa Tire, Eastern Tire Service (Canada), Haltec Corp., Hawkinson Companies, Import-Export Tires, Ironhead Rubber Technologies (Canada), JC Core, Kargro BV (The Netherlands), M&B Distributors, M.F.R. Brodsky was fired as the head of TRIB on Oct. 5 after a 30-year career at the helm of the organization. The 75-year-old Brodsky claimed he did nothing to warrant the firing and vowed to come back with an all-new association to go head-to-head with TRIB.
In the news release announcing the official launch of the RTA, Brodsky made his case. “As the managing director of RTA, I bring to you the benefit of more than 30 years of seasoned experience including personal and professional knowledge of all facets of our industry and its related industries.
“I have been writing and speaking on behalf of retreading around the world to fleet managers at conferences and trade shows, conducting educational and informational panels for owner-operators and others (creating much of the web content for TRIB), being the knowledgeable ‘voice of retreading’ for all tire retread and tire repair related issues, including the promotion and defense of our industry,” he said.
“My more than 30 years of successfully, proactively and positively benefiting our industry by being the go-to person and clearinghouse for all things retread- and tire repair-related truly represent my passion and my calling to retreaders everywhere.”
