Reifen China Ready for a Big Opening

When this year’s Reifen China kicks off on Nov. 22-24 alongside the RubberTech China event, the show’s organizers are expecting record attendance.

After strong growth last year, this year’s event could see as many as 10,000 visitors pass through the doors of the Shanghai New International Expo Center (SNIEC) during the course of the exhibition, meaning the event is becoming a regular meeting place for those in sourcing from or selling to the Chinese tire industry. When you consider that SNIEC’s modern infrastructure has nine halls with a total of 103,500 square meters of exhibition area as well as another 100,000 square meters of outdoor space, it is clear to see that there is plenty of room for growth.

In addition to the venue’s capacity, another reason why Reifen China could break the five-digit barrier in 2011 is because its growth trend brought it very close last year. The fourth Reifen China, which also took place at SNIEC at the same time of year, recorded 9,356 trade visitors from 75 countries over 30% more than in the previous year. A total of 114 exhibitors, including numerous major manufacturers from China as well as from 14 other countries, presented their products and services.

Klaus Reich, divisional manager of show organizer Messe Essen, commented that with the increasing numbers of visitors and exhibitors: “We are seeing a positive development which we would like to continue.” The organizer believes the fair has become established on the Asian market as a “significant platform for products and services for everything to do with tIres, wheels and garages,” evidenced by the extension of both the exhibition area and the types of companies that are filling this 20% larger space; the extra space will host especially the fields of garage equipment and wheel rims.

Naturally, Messe Essen says, China’s leading tire manufacturers will be amongst its expected 130 exhibitors, comprising not only Asia’s own economic leaders in the field, but also international companies from Europe or America. One trend that echoes the German-organized show’s growth in popularity is the rising demand for products baring the label “Made in Germany” in the country, according to the organizers.

China, of course, remains an attractive trading platform: economic growth is great, with the forecast good for the coming years, promising great potential for the tIre industry. Reifen China offers companies an outstanding contact and ordering platform in itself but with the concurrently running trade fair for rubber processing and rubber manufacture, Rubber Tech China the common target groups addressed is given a convenient and complimentary show experience.

Reifen China will also offer something entertaining for visitors, in addition to the information platform it represents. For this purpose, there will be an outdoor site with a drifting course, one of motorsport’s growing codes. Demonstrations will be given by what Messe Essen calls “driving artists,” testing a diverse range of tires in extreme conditions. (Tyres & Accessories)
