Quick work by a tire store employee in Pendleton, Ore., last week saved a toddler who had stopped breathing, according to a report by the East Oregonian.
Josh Cyganik was about to start his shift at the Les Schwab Tire Center on Tuesday when a woman raced into the store saying her 17-month-old boy was not breathing. The newspaper said Cyganik, who knows CPR, hurried outside, picked up the child and tapped him on the back. That dislodged whatever was blocking his windpipe. Paramedics then arrived in about two minutes.
Cyganik tells East Oregonian that he reacted without thinking. He says an ambulance rushed the mom and child to a hospital before he had a chance to learn their names.
