As expected, Marangoni Tread N.A. Inc. and Continental Tire the Americas have ended their partnership.
Effective Nov. 23, Marangoni is no longer producing ContiTread retread stock for CTA.
In a formal statement from the two companies, the move “allows both companies to pursue their own goals for continued growth in the region. For the most part, this move does not affect the business cooperation between Continental and Marangoni in other parts of the world.”
The parting was expected since April when CTA launched its ContiLifeCycle retread program, under which CTA began producing its own proprietary retread stock. The Marangoni-CTA relationship began in 2010 when the Italian tire and retread producer began making precure Ringtread tread stock for the U.S. resembling specific Continental brand truck tires.
At the time ContiLifeCycle was announced, CTA officials said that licensing deal would remain in place at least through 2013 when the contract expires.
