Approximately 70 workers workers at the Goodyear tire plant in Fayetteville are losing their jobs, according to a report by news channel ABC11.
A spokesman for the United Steel Workers Union that represents the workers confirmed the layoffs Wednesday. Union officials say the company is cutting production on one of its tire lines at the plant.
The layoffs could last 6 months to a year. Only about 20 union workers will take voluntary layoffs. The layoffs begin Friday, according to ABC11.
Last month, 15 employees were fired after a seven month-long undercover operation. The former Goodyear employees were accused of selling prescription drugs, marijuana and cocaine.
