The best way to drive mediaattention to your tire dealership is to send out a press release. Thoughthere’s no guarantee a publication will print your release, there are ways toimprove your odds. Above all, your goal should be to make sure your pressrelease is “newsworthy.” That means your release should focus on an innovativeor interesting feature that will be of interest to the publication’s specificreaders.

Here are some general rulesfor writing a press release:

• Clearly describe your new offering, where to get it, and when it will be available (in the first sentence, ifpossible).

• Describe what is specialabout the new tire, service, event, etc.

• Place the most importantinformation at the beginning of the release.

• Include the name of acontact person and a phone number.

• Photos are often helpful.

• Limit the press release toone double-spaced page.

• Submit copies of the pressrelease to as many publications as possible.
