Five Tiremakers Get RMA Safety Awards

Five tire manufacturers operating tire production facilities in the U.S. were recognized for improvements in worker health and safety by the RMA. Workers at Pirelli Tire North America's plant in Rome, Ga.

RMA’s Safety and Health Improvement Program (SHIP), created in 1981, recognizes member tiremakers that "achieve significant enhancements in worker health and safety with awards," according to the RMA.

The “Excellence” category is for facilities that achieve an incidence rate that is 75% better than the average of plants that provide data to RMA, while the “Improvement” award is for plants that achieve an incidence rate that is both 10% better than its rate in the previous year and the same or better than the RMA average incidence rate.

Receiving Excellence awards were Bridgestone Americas’ plant in Aiken, S.C.; Michelin North America’s plants in Spartanburg and Starr, S.C.; and Pirelli Tire North America’s plant in Rome, Ga.

Improvement awards went to Cooper Tire & Rubber Co.’s plants in Tupelo and Clarksdale, Miss.; MNA’s plants in Greenville and Sandy Springs, S.C., Dothan, Ala., Ft. Wayne, Ind., and Covington, Ga.; and Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. plants in Topeka, Kan., Lawton, Okla., and Social Circle, Ga.

GRI recently conducted programs in Sri Lanka to empower women and motivate children under its Green x Circle initiative. The company said these endeavors aimed to address the needs of the community, focusing on both women empowerment and youth motivation.

GRI recently organized a training program titled "Management of household finance under current economic conditions" at the Ingiriya Rubber Collecting Center in Sri Lanka, South Asia led by Shashika Nimali, an NLP practitioner and life coach. The company said this initiative provided women in the industry with essential skills and knowledge to effectively manage household finances. GRI's tailored training sessions equipped participants with tools for informed decision-making, ultimately fostering greater financial security and independence, the company said.
