An ex-employee of a Fountain Tire store in Manitoba was convicted of voyeurism after he was caught video-recording customers in the store’s restroom. He received a two-year suspended sentence.
The man was a commercial tire technician at the Fountain Tire location in Winnipeg. In April 2012, a customer discovered an iPhone recording video in the store’s restroom.
A Fountain Tire executive said the company called the authorities immediately after the customer complained. “We’re disgusted by this incident, and we want to assure our customers that we dealt with the situation swiftly,” the executive said.
Later, Fountain Tire issued a full statement: "We sincerely regret the incident involving Arcel Gagnon that occurred on April 5, 2012, at the Warman Road location in Winnipeg. On that day a customer brought to management’s attention that an iPhone was found placed in a jacket and was videotaping customers using the bathroom facilities. We would like to assure customers that the situation was dealt with swiftly. Arcel Gagnon was immediately suspended and we contacted the RCMP. Upon completion of the investigation he was terminated on April 19, 2012."
