The tiremaker is offering a contingency program to Formula D drivers competing on Cooper brand tires. Cooper announced that it will award $5,000 for a first-place finish, $3,000 for second place and $1,000 for third place.
Drivers who finish the event in fourth through eighth position will earn a contingency award of $750, while drivers finishing ninth through 16th position receive $500 for each event. Also, any driver competing on Cooper tires who finishes in 17th through 32nd position at the event will earn a contingency award of $250, according to Cooper.
The 2007 Formula D Pro Championship consists of seven events in the following locations: Long Beach, Calif., on April 7; Road Atlanta, Ga., on May 12; Summit Point, W. Va., on June 2; Infineon Raceway, Calif., on July 14; Evergreen Speedway, Wash., on Aug. 11; Wall Speedway, N.J., on Sept. 8; and Irwindale Speedway, Calif., on Oct. 13.
Cooper is also offering a series championship contingency award for a driver who completes all seven races on Cooper tires and wins first, second or third place overall. The first place award will be $15,000, second place will be $10,000 and third place will be $5,000.
