The affected tires could develop tread lug chunking or tread edge cracking, which could cause the tire to lose air and lose control of steering, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Tires in the recall were produced between Sept. 1, 2015, and Sept. 14, 2015.

Cooper will notify owners, and dealers will replace the tires, free of charge. Owners may contact Cooper customer service at 1-800-854-6288. The number for this recall is 161.
