Continental Tire is poised to create a new legal entity in Ghana’s capital city of Accra in an effort to expand its West Africa presence, the News Ghana reports.
The Managing Director of Continental Tire Sub-Saharan Africa Shaun Uys, told the newspaper, “The tire industry in Africa is generally under-serviced by the major manufacturers, and is dominated by cheap imports. We’re aiming to change this with the establishment of the new legal entity for Continental Tire in Ghana, which will create the platform to expand our footprint and maximize our exposure in the market.”
Continental Tire already has a presence in Ghana through a long-term partnership with Rainbow Motors, which has a warehouse and ContiPartner dealer in Accra. According to local media Continental will remain partners with Rainbow Motors.
