Become a Stunt Driver With Bridgestone

Some say he is holidaying in Australia this February, and that during his down under jaunt he’ll be performing his world-first driving stunt – all we know is, he’s called the Stig, and Bridgestone is offering its Australian devotees the chance to drive like the Top Gear racing driver.

This first ever driving stunt will be performed at the Top Gear Live show in Australia during February, and Bridgestone says members of the public will have a chance to take part in their own hands-on stunt driving experience at the Bridgestone Stunt Driver Experience at the Top Gear Live Festival. Bridgestone is bringing its Toyota V6 HiLux Heroes precision driving team to the festival, and the tire major states it will give “lucky Top Gear Live fans a rare opportunity to jump in the driver’s seat for some one-on-one stunt training, including ramp-to-ramp jumps and 360-degree spins.” Fans wanting a chance to take part in the experience simply need to visit the Bridgestone stand at the event and fill in an entry form. Prior to each show, groups will be drawn to take part.

The Toyota HiLux Heroes are piloted by some of Australia’s top professional drivers in modified stunt vehicles which feature upgraded shock absorbers, a limited-slip differential, custom exhaust and – of course – Bridgestone’s Dueler 694 LT tires.

The stunt driving trainees will also have the opportunity to take an adrenaline-pumping passenger ride on two wheels at the Festival, which is an added feature of the much-anticipated Top Gear Live Arena Show, hosted by Jeremy Clarkson, James May and a yet-to-be announced local presenter.

Top Gear Live arrives in Australia in February with an entourage of almost 100 cars, 150 sets of tires and, says Bridgestone, “enough petrol to raze a small country.” It will all be transported halfway across the world in one 747 cargo plane, three ships and 135 trucks – ready for eight shows in four days. Top Gear Live’s own precision drivers, led by world record-breaking Terry Grant and Paul Swift, will wow audiences with driving stunts on stage and motoring special effects never seen before. And, as previously mentioned, The Stig will perform some world-first stunt driving action in the form of an indoor loop-the-loop trick in a specially modified dune buggy. (Tyres & Accessories)
