Bauer Built of Durand, Wisc., announced the 2015 winners of the G. F. “Sam” and Ethel V. Bauer/Bauer Built Inc. Scholarship Award. Bauer Built introduced this program in 1994 in commemoration of its 50th Anniversary and in honor of its founders G. F. “Sam” and Ethel V. Bauer.
The following students were awarded $1,500 each:
• Alexa Milliren from Durand High School in Durand, Wisc. Alexa is the granddaughter of Joan Traun who is the corporate receptionist at the offices in Durand. She is the daughter of Tim and Julie Milliren of Arkansaw, Wisc. Alexa plans to attend the University of Wisconsin – LaCrosse to obtain a degree in physical therapy.
• Amanda Nyquist from Robbinsdale Cooper High School in New Hope, Minn. Amanda is the daughter of Ronald and Connie Nyquist of Brooklyn Park, Minn. Ronald is the assistant store manager at Bauer Built’s Tire Center in Blaine, Minn. Amanda plans to attend Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, to obtain a degree in math education.
To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must be a Bauer Built employee, a son or daughter, stepson or stepdaughter, or grandchild of a Bauer Built employee who is graduating from high school and enrolled in a post-secondary course of instruction. Each applicant must submit a hand-written essay on the field of study being pursued along with their career goals, two letters of recommendation, and verification of grade-point average with their application.
Since 1994, Bauer Built has awarded $87,000 in scholarships, the company stated.
