Goodyear plans to end production of as many as 10 private brand lines as part of its plans to rationalize North American production.
According to Ron Sinclair, ATD’s vice president of marketing, the Winston brand will survive. In a prior statement, ATD indicated that it had “developed a plan to transition the Winston brand volume to other lines in their offering.”
However, Sinclair further clarified the statrement. “ATD owns the rights to the Winston trademark and, therefore, we have the option to go to another manufacturer to produce the brand for us. We are currently evaluating these options. Winston is a strong brand in the marketplace with substantial consumer equity.
“In short, we are not planning to phase out of the brand at this time.”
