India’s Business Standard reports that the 19-day strike at Apollo Tyres’ Waghodia plant ended on Nov. 9.
Striking workers and company officials signed a deal in the presence of district labor department officials, officially ending the job action.
While workers apparently gained some concessions from Apollo, recognition of a recently formed labor union a fourth one at that plant for the tiremaker to deal with was not one of them. The tiremaker agreed to revisit that issue early next year.
The agreement came on the heels of the Gurarat provincial government declaring the strike by some 700 workers was illegal.
