When customers appreciate you, they will let you know. So it should have been no surprise that more than 1,060 people dropped in for Jack Williams Tire Co.’s 11th annual open house and trade show, held March 17-18.
For the “Delivering Success” Open House and Trade Show at the dealer’s Moosic, Pa., headquarters and primary warehouse, the event brought together some 30 suppliers including tiremakers Goodyear, Yokohama, Continental, Cooper/Mastercraft, Giti, Kumho, Nexen, Michelin, Nokian, Carlisle and several equipment, wheel, tool and shop supply vendors. The day included a number of prize drawings for iPad3s, a 55-inch flat screen TV, a laptop computer, tires, cash and gift cards.
The loading bay area of the dealer’s massive main warehouse turned over to the open house event, and a large catering tent in the parking lot hosted a free lunch of barbecue pork and ham.
There were plenty of things to occupy children while parents took care of business, from radio-controlled racecars to a coloring table to a jump house. All told, Jack Williams officials expected to sell some 60,000 tires during the event.
Company chairman Bill Williams said the event used to be held at local hotels, but it grew so much that they needed more space. When the headquarters and warehouse were enlarged a few years ago, he made sure there was enough space to house the entire event. Still, with a high number of exhibitors and attendees, space was at a premium.
The 83-year-old business and 2009 Tire Review Top Shop Award Finalist has some 600 employees, according to Williams, 67, who has turned the day-to-day management of the business over to son Scott, president and CEO; son Jason, executive vice president; and daughter Tracey, vice president of communications and community affairs.
An American Car Care Centers member distributor, the company includes five warehouses for its wholesale business (a sixth is in the planning stages), and nearly 30 retail stores in eastern Pennsylvania.
Jack Williams Tire delivers tires to dealer customers in much of Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey and Delaware.
