Fulda has announced the launch of the Kristall Control HP, its new cold weather tire featuring “Snow Catcher Technology” comprising the tire’s carcass and tread design and full silica compound. The Kristall Control HP is designed to deliver improved performance on wet and snow-covered roads.
“We are enormously proud to bring this strong high performance cold weather tire to market,” said Alain Klepper, brand director for Fulda Europe, Middle East and Africa. “Based on the technology of Fulda’s successful cold weather tire Kristall Montero 3, which impressed industry critics with its performance in wet conditions, the new Kristall Control HP delivers excellent handling and control on both snow-covered and wet roads.”
Snow Catcher Technology utilizes the natural rolling compression of the tire together with an innovative tread design featuring cross-grooves to trap snow within the tire’s footprint, thus yielding better grip on snow-covered roads. The Kristall Control HP also features cross-grooves that enable it to evacuate water and compress and catch snow. The tire’s natural rolling pressure further compresses the grooves as they enter the “footprint,” or tire-to-road contact patch, thus creating an additional compression force that “catches” the snow, according to the company.
The tire’s “Bubble Blade Technology” creates an interlocking mechanism between the blades, preventing excessive deformation of the tread block and achieving greater balance between blade density and tread design. The Kristall Control HP also features a modern, low-weight carcass construction to allow both lower rolling resistance levels and high-speed performance, Fulda said. Its full silica tread compound gives increased flexibility at low temperatures, and improved wet traction.
The Kristall Control HP is available in 23 V- and H-rated sizes ranging from 15- to 17-inch rim diameters. (Tyres & Accessories)
