Long Island Man Takes Home Foose Mazda in Pirelli Contest

New York resident and race fan Anthony Carbone was the grand prize winner in Pirelli Tire North America’s “Watch and Win” sweepstakes, which supported its Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series effort for 2010.

Carbone, a Long Island resident and account director at a New York City construction firm, won a specially designed 2010 Pirelli Dempsey Racing Edition Mazda RX-8 R3 by Foose Design. He also received an all-expenses paid trip to the 2010 Rolex Series finale at Miller Motorsports Park near Salt Lake City.

To win the sweepstakes, Carbone first entered online during the January broadcast of the Rolex 24 At Daytona. During the course of the Grand-Ame season, 10 other winners joined him for the finals.

“This is unbelievable, a great experience,” said Carbone, a former drag racer who races karts in addition to racing simulations. “I didn’t think I was going to win, but you never know. Just like going to the racetrack, you never know what’s going to happen. Now, I’ve got to find a way to get it back home. You know, you don’t count your chickens. If I have to fly back here and drive it back, I’ll do it.”
