New Bandag Tread Geared for Longer Wear

Bridgestone Bandag Tire Solutions (BBTS), a division of Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations, said its new Bandag-brand BDR-HG tread is specially designed for regional and over-the-road fleets operating tandem-axle tractors. When used in the drive axle position, the new BDR-HG (Bandag Drive Regional – High Grip) tread promotes best-in-class traction both new and as the tread wears, according to the company.

The BDR-HG features an open-shoulder, and full-depth voids and sipes, which maintain a true lug throughout the life of the tread.

“Typically, when most treads wear, block edges become worn, sipes disappear and the lugs begin to turn into ribs, all which contribute to reduced traction. The new BDR-HG is designed to maintain its traction as it wears; keeping its grip on snow-covered routes and slushy terminals throughout its life, giving drivers the confidence to meet delivery schedules,” said Chris Hoffman, manager, TBR & retread product marketing, BBTS.

BDR-HG also offers exceptional tread wear through compounding, deep tread and staggered blocks, the company said.

Ascot Supply Corporation, based in Newnan, Georgia, has selected Mark Paquette for the newly created position of vice president. In this position, Ascot Supply said Paquette will oversee the growth of the company's products, corporate profitability, manage marketing and advertising and assume many other responsibilities.

He will work under the direction of current President David Kessler and officially begin his new role on June 3. Paquette joined the tire and automotive industry in the early 1980s at his father's tire shop, and his contributions to Mohawk Rubber Sales were instrumental in the company's growth and eventual sale to Myers Tire Supply in 2021, according to Ascot Supply. Paquette eventually was given a promotion to the role of director of operations at Myers Tire Supply.
