Bosch Celebrating 100 Years in the U.S.

(Akron/Tire Review) Robert Bosch Corp. is celebrating its first 100 years in the U.S., and attributes its longevity to “a philosophy of creatively responding to customer product and service needs in ways that deliver added value.”

With its then-groundbreaking high-voltage magneto ignition system, Bosch entered the U.S. market in 1906. Today, the Broadview, Ill.-based company manufactures and markets automotive OE and aftermarket products, industrial automation and mobile products, power tools and accessories, household appliances, and a host of industrial products.

"The Bosch legacy of leading the automotive industry to new levels of technical innovation and driver satisfaction continues today as we develop and deliver premium technology products that enhance vehicle performance, safety, and provide driver comfort and convenience,” said David Coolidge, president of Bosch’s North American Aftermarket Division. “At the same time, we are committed to supporting the automotive aftermarket with expanded premium product offerings, developing new market segments, and providing best-in-class value-added service and support systems.”

Some of these Bosch’s product highlights include: the world’s first commercially viable high voltage spark plug, the first electric windshield wiper system, the intermittent windshield wiper, antilock braking systems, electronic stability control, adaptive cruise control, gasoline and diesel direct injection systems, and hybrid vehicle management.

"Creating value for our customers is our first priority. We are committed to developing new products, new market opportunities and quality processes to ensure customer trust in our operational excellence and value propositions," Coolidge said.
